our exhibition in Seoul

Antic-Ham and Francis, together with the 6 other members of Seoul based artists' group SUJAK
had an exhibition in Gana Art Space in busy Insadong. The concept of the exhibition was to create an atmosphere like in your ownn living or reading room... this explains the truck loaded with tables, chairs and carperts and shelves leaving Ham's appartment.
The exhibition was very well visited.. even too much on week end where at any moment constantly over 30 people in the gallery.
Visit from Karen and Kevin from USA presently living in Seoul... and with Opa, Egg and Hoho-girl from Sujak.

from truck to book cover

We have bought from Jacob Trucks from Foxford the tarpaulin from the truck used by Sweeney's from Achill Sound. We use this tarpaulin as book cover for our new project of screen prints about the sixties. After washing and cutting into the right size we screenprinted the cover with special inks for PVC. Book binding is done with 3 screws.
If someone wished more information please write to info@redfoxpress.com in Ireland or anticham@hanmail.net in South Korea.

new project / busy summer in Achill

"1969" is the title of this new project.. A big size screenprinted book 42x45 cm.
The theme is the sixties.. how these years changed a whole generation in their way of life and thinking, and led to new movements and expressions in the arts.
The book is printed on paper bags and other materials such as film and plastic. The cover is in tarpaulin.
Other techniques such as stencil, frottage, collage and solvent transfer have been added to the screenprints.
The prints will be showed in our exhibition in Seoul in september, and the book will be launch ed at the Frankfurter book fair in october.

visiting libraries in Paris and Basel

With 25 kilograms of books and travelling by car, train, bus, plane, underground (16 times!!) and TGV we planned in 3 days to visit 3 institutions in Paris and Basel with which we took appointments before leaving.
We visited the Librairie Kandinski in the Centre Pompidou which specialises in artists' books only and the Cabinet des Estampes from the Bibilotheque Nationale de France.
In the Basel University we visited the "Oeffentliche Bibliothek" which had been recommended to us by an important collector in Basel.
There was no much time left for galavanting, but still Ham managed to acquire a beautifull swiss "Freitag" bag.
What we learned about this experience.. never again with 25 kilograms!!
